DERMAL VOLUME FILLERS: YOUR FOUNTAIN OF YOUTH
With time and photoaging, the collagen and elastin fibers that keep the skin supple and smooth begin to break down, causing loss of facial volume and increased dynamic wrinkles.
These folds and creases eventually become a part of resting facial structure and can make the face appear drawn and aged.
With the help of dermal filler injections, lost volume can be regained and those wrinkles can be smoothed out, turning back your skin clock and renewing and refreshing your appearance.
Here at the Goodskin office, we offer a few different filler options to fit your varying needs. The three main types of fillers we offer are based on hyaluronic acid, calcium hydroxyl apatite, and poly-L-lactic acid.
Hyaluronic acid is a naturally found substance in our bodies that lubricates the joints and acts as a building block for the skin.
The solution safely encourages volume and evenness of the skin and naturally breaks down in the body. While the treatment should not be painful, a topical anesthetic is applied before the injection, and most fillers now include a lidocaine anesthetic mixture to combat any additional discomfort.
Light bruising and swelling for one to three days is a common side effect of any filler injection. There are many different kinds of hyaluronic acid fillers, and here at Goodskin we offer four: Restylane®, Perlane®, Juvederm®, and Prevelle Silk®.
These fillers are made to target moderate to severe facial wrinkles around the mouth and the eyes, such as nasolabial folds (smile lines), laugh lines, marionette lines, and drool lines.
Perlane® is a slightly thicker solution that is ideal for deeper creases and lines. Restylane® and Juvederm® are both lighter formulas that can also be used to enhance the lips for patients over 21.
All of these options offer immediate results and can last 6 months or more before needing a follow-up treatment.
Prevelle Silk® This filler utilizes lower concentrations of hyaluronic acid to make the effects more subtle, more temporary, and more immediate.
Prevelle® is a great “last minute” option before a trip or a big night because any swelling it causes is generally gone by the next day. Prevelle® is also a good option for a first-time filler, as its results are more temporary, lasting around two months maximum.
This filler is mainly used for lip enhancement.
The most common of these fillers is Radiesse®, which is made both of tiny microspheres of calcium hydroxyl apatite and a common hydrogel that is used in many cosmetic products.
While this product is man-made, it is naturally compatible with the body and has no reported allergic reactions. What largely sets Radiesse® apart from hyaluronic acid fillers is that it can last up to 12 months or more.
Radiesse® is ideal for targeting nasolabial folds, wrinkles at the corner of the mouth, acne scars, facial defects or recessions, frown lines, restoring cheek volume, or correcting asymmetrical features.Radiesse® naturally encourages tissue regrowth by three months after the treatment while looking and feeling natural.
Immediately after treatment there will be minor inflammation or swelling that can last up to 48 hours, and mild bruising can last a few days. For the first 24 hours, it’s best to avoid activities that can strain your facial features.
This filler is unique in the fact that it doesn’t aim to offer immediate results; instead, Sculptra Aesthetic® works over time to replace lost collagen in the skin,
gradually renewing the features and erasing wrinkles and folds.
This revolutionary new take on anti-aging requires an average of three injections over a period of a few months and can produce lasting effects for over two years.
Scupltra® is injected into the deep dermis to remedy nasolabial folds (smile lines), marionette lines that frame the mouth, and chin wrinkles. Like aging backwards, the formula stimulates new growth of collagen and elastin fibers, gradually adding lost volume and smoothing age lines.
